A few months back I was asked to take a look at a cordless phone to VOIP adaptor. Its a royal pain to have to be tied to the computer… and wireless headsets and the like for the computer have much to be desired.

This is one cool device, plus as Martin said, you can buy it unlocked. I hate being tied into a given service provider.

The cool part is you can tie your existing phone right into this box, run an ethernet cable to it, and you can use your existing phones, which include your favorite cordless. You can see the full spec sheet here

My only concern is safety bypass.

In the event of electrical failure, the router and everything else in ones home goes dead. But, the POTS is generally still alive. So in the event of an emergency, it appears one is dead in the water, short of going to the unit and manually rewiring the phone lines to POTS.

Hmmm, looks like another invention may be needed!!! Looks liek its time to pull part 68 and start digging.
