Google queries provide stolen credit cards | CNET News.com
Interesting… but then again, not unrealistic either. Databases have all of this information, a few distractions, a few mistakes, some social engineering, and its all in the open.
I hope that the govt doesn’t get too bent out of shape concerning search engines. The problem is not with google, its plain and simple database security…. Is the server secure electronically, or even more so physically. Imagine bank robbers of the future, rather than breaking into the vaule and stealling the cash, they break into the datacenter, and walk out with the server. Of course there is also the soft issue of social engineering.
The other thing is how google’s search index has changed. I imagine they got a lot of sites with public credit card numbers requesting not to be searched, or even more so, pulling the sites off.
I did find an interesting comment about paypal on Kevin Rose’s site. I guess much the same could be said about other types of auction payments. Its one of the reason’s I won’t use paypal.
