palmOne – Products – Tungsten E Handheld

I’ve been going crazy. My PDA went out on Friday, and its been a royal pain not to have it. Today I bought a new one, a Tungsten E. Its old for sure, but I could justify spending $400 for the Tunsten T5, although it was tempting.

Whats cool
1. readable color screen
2. faster, I can now run docs to go, and adobe without it dieing
3. more memory
4. The transistion form Handspring and Palm Desktop 4.0 went exceedingly well.

Whats not cool
1. The case is a joke…. come on guys, a wimpy leather thingy for a $200 unit. The hard cases are so big, they don’t fit in my pocket. Maybe I’ll need to make my own.
2. The new calculator…. Talk about stepping back 10 years to a 4 banger. The powerone unit is fine for a finance type probably, but it sucks air for a techy. No hex, no multi memories… and even the premium version was junk. So I did some searching and found out that Handspring licensed the Parens calculator. Cool!!! but Parens is out of business. However I did find a place to download the eval version. How I’m going to pay for it once it expires will be a problem…. At least I’m good to go for 30 days.
3. Having to pay retail price. Yes I bought it at Staples, but I’d loose more than the $80 savings at Palm direct if I waited until it arrived late next week through them.
