This is another interesting site….. Medhub is creating a paperless Doctors office. Sounds like a great idea in concept, but implementation is going to be filled with headaches. Still it is the way of the future. The reams of paper have to go, as well as the nurse cheat sheats… talk about inefficient.
A friend is entering his second career as an RN, prior to that he was a tech guru. His work is flying on most of the major airliners, as well as being on a substantial amount of the roads we all drive on. He seems to really like nursing, but find the admin and paper functions a real disaster. The technology is there, and he gets frustrated. In his opinion, with proper technology management, there would be no nursing shortage. The big question remains if the likes of Medhub can change a world of politics and bearocracy. I sure hope they can.
Along the same line… the CEO also has a forum. But, its not what one would expect. He’s an actor, Larry Wilcox, and the forum is not tech related, its a fan site. The CEO played John Baker on Chips something like 20 years ago. It was a cool show back then. Talk about a career change, then again…..
Actors and those in the entertainment field have done great things for technology.
Heddy Lamar brought us spread spectrum communications. Her patents expired many many years before commercialization, but wow, talk about impressive.
Bing Crosby brought magnetic tape recording to the forefront.
Chet Atkins was quite the tech guru…. imagine if he had went down the engineering path. I did some searching on the web, and I could find virtually nothing on his tech exploits. All I’ve got is some old interviews, and man, his level of technical competance was amazing. Perhaps another blog entry someday.
