Blown parts all over

I haven’t been too active as of late…

My last posting was about reloading the OS… Now I’m becoming competant at last. I’ve done it 6 times!!! Apparently I took a lightning hit, so.

2 hard drives
2 PSU
1 CDRW
1 Motherboard

and hopefully this is the end of IT repair work. Solaris has self healing capability… perhaps it would have given me a warning that more was suspect. Thats going to be the next task once everything is back up and running.

The Gateway’s psu had a blown fuse… so I replaced it, but misread the speed rating. So it blew up big time, I had 20cm flames shooting all around. My office was black with smoke. I guess with age, one’s vision is not so good. In the future, I will use a magnifier to check the fuse…. and not assume I read it correctly. I don’t need that excitement.
