I registered for another forum today, and the outfit had the confound captcha image settings cranked up so high that it was darn near impossible to read the values.

Folks, if someone has a graphical image analysis program, it doesn’t matter whether the characters are easy to read, or a pita to read, it will pull the fonts out, and assign an alphanumeric set of characters. If they don’t, it doesn’t matter even if the alphanumerics are on a mottled background yet still easy for a human to read, its not going to get the right value.

When you crank up the image, then the readability especially for the curmudgeons takes a header. Its not too many outfits that are going to stick around, rather than leaving when you present a captcha that is impossible to read.

So then I go to my own captcha settings, and doggone it, mine were hosed up to. I have changed it, so feel free to try the comments thingy. Its now readable by a human as compared to a super computer some days.

Now don’t get my wrong, captcha as a turning test has saved me a ton of grief, and minimized my workload, but who knows how many folks I might have lost as a result. We shall see what happens with the new settings.
