Recognizing Deven: On the Eve of Demo
72 hours, plenty of time to spare…. Back in my days in a startup, I remember those all too well. Sometimes it meant soldering and debug in the hotel, the day before the show opened, and other times it was sending software back and forth to get something to fly.
I find it interesting how simliar things are… these guys had it working on their dev environment, but the show is different. Gee, we had the same problem, and then decided in the future, the dev environment is configured to work at the shows…. If we got really lucky, then maybe we might go live, but who needs the headache of any extra uncontrollable variable. Of course marketing always wanted live at the shows, so thee was an inherrant engineering/marketing confict.
I also read the previous days blog… all the urgent needs foreshadow the important ones. A guy feels like stomping out fires with a big boot, but its also a very exciting time,as your baby takes its first step in public.
To some extent, I almost miss those days…. but only to an extent. Recognizing Deven is a blog to keep an eye on.
