TV Converter Box Coupon Program Website - Apply for a Coupon
Yes, thats the real govt website, the one it seems every talks about, but no one links too. Go figure.
As usual, there is a list of approved devices, some being presented at CES this week. (by approved, the design and prototype is, afaict, non of these are currently shipping).
- DigitalSTREAM D2A1D10
- DigitalSTREAM D2A1D20
- Zenith DTT900
- Magnavox TB100MW9
- Philco TB150HH9
- Sansonic FT300A
- Philco TB100HH9
- MicroGEM MG2000
- Sansonic FT300RT
- MaxMedia MMDTVB03
- Apex DT1001
- ECHOSTAR TR-40
- AMTC AT-2016
- Goodmind DTA1000
Its also interesting to note what the criteria is.
“a stand-alone device that does not contain features or functions except those necessary to enable a consumer to convert any channel broadcast in the digital television service into a format that the consumer can display on television receivers designed to receive and display signals only in the analog television service, but may also include a remote control device.â€
Horrors that a coupon could be used by someone to partially cover the cost of an upgraded tv set… I predict in 5 years, there will be tons of these boxes in the landfills, as dtv tuners with extended features reach prices well under what these coupons provide for. Now, if only the digital signals were powerful enough to reach my home and office without a major tower installation.
Here are a couple photos
